I would think that Rescinding of Conviction would be more appropriate terminology but the spirit of the action is more important than the language.
The thing is that the convictions carried with them an automatic criminal record and that has had a profound effect on people's lives. On applying for a job or a mortgage or an insurance policy etc., one has to declare whether one had any sort of criminal conviction. It even restricted travel so that travel to the USA and some other countries was out of the question.

And that damage can never be undone, [MENTION=18457]LONDONER[/MENTION]. I have a friend who lives under similar strictures. He is very nearly a hermit. It is the only way he can distance himself from the pain.
It is a sad, sad thing that we are unable to give understanding and tolerance instead of hate.

An apology..not a pardon. Turing saved how many lives?.....and the best they could do was a pardon?
Shame on them.
In my opinion..it is slapping them all in the face again.
The only indecent act was from the people who did this in the first place......

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. A pardon and an apology would surely go some way to heal the wounds.
