My mortgage is $660US for a 1400 square foot house. Sounds reasonable but is not easy on Social Security.

Congratultions on our very own cocoon, Gemini.

Start getting rid of stuff now. It's a lifelong battle. Find good bookshelves, a good reading chair, headphones and a fun bed. And don't forget a nice covered basket for those condoms.

Gemini Wrote:Well, this studio I finally rented is a little more - $2,300. - BUT it includes ALL UTILITIES (not common here), so I'll actually come out ahead. Nothing fancy - a nice kitchen separated by a counter from one big room. But it's clean, modern kitchen and bath, in an acceptable neighborhood and - I just signed the lease - ALL MINE!!!

Dude were do you live? LOL, I can't believe in our modest country rent price are highest than in the first world USA. you confirm me that I can move US someday. LOL

By the way congrats, I'm still living with my parents but I think soon, God first. I'm gonna buy my own appartment... just need a couple months more >_<

Shawn - Awesome on getting your own place!

I live in Boston, which is ranked the 4th most expensive city in the US. But there are a lot of other great cities where you can get a nice place for much less.

I see, in Panama we use the same US Dollar. yes I was thinking about renting, but. a humble place would be 1,000. A fairly nice place will be 2,000, Good at 3,000. And the very goods from 4,000 - 15,000+ per month range. less than 1,000 would be a not nice place to live, or just renting a room.

I'm planning in buying a good place in the beach front... well in the US I would like to live in NY but I don't want to imagine those prices now haha

Yikes that's more than my mortgage with property tax included.
That being said - try it for a lease period.
Use a condom.
