I've had problems with depression and anxiety throughout my life (I've recently come to the realization that part of my problem was the idea of other people finding out I'm gay) and, much like you Genersis, I have poor eating and sleeping habits.

For me, no matter how tired I am, I have a lot of problems falling asleep if my mind is preoccupied with other things. I have a tendency to over-think things sometimes and I often find myself playing through the day's events in my mind from every conceivable angle. I've even caught myself rehashing things that happened months or years ago! Unfortunately, this habit of mine often results in anxiety which definitely makes falling asleep harder.

I have a friend who is a support person for a company that sells a natural product to help people with central nervous system disorders. She told me that low blood sugar levels are one of the main reasons people have trouble sleeping.

She also said if you wake in the middle of the night to use the washroom, try not to turn on any lights. Put a dim night light in the hallway and bathroom, if you have to, so you can see where you're going and what you're doing without turning on any other lights.

For me, I'm convinced that a poor diet and anxiety (those two things could even be connected) are, to a large extent, causing problems sleeping for me.

I still do thoses "what could of happend if i'd"things, even of events that happend years ago, mainly because a find it Intreging but i see that it does keep me awake sometimes.

I already do the "don't turn on any lights" thing, I find my night vision to sufice nicely. I don't think the counsel will ever let dimmer lights to be instaled, and with the normal light bulbs diserpearing being replaced by echo friendly lights that can't normaly handle dimmer switches, i don't think its the best idea.Wink

And the blood sugar thing sounds interesting, i'll look into it!:biggrin:

About the blood sugar thing, I should've mentioned that my friend said this is often why people find themselves waking up shortly after falling asleep. I would assume, though, that having low blood sugar would make falling asleep in the first place more difficult too.

Agreed, too much makes you wake up and can stop you falling asleep, too little stops you falling asleep. Its all about balance, then again, isn't every thing?:tongue:

Oh my. Sorry to hear about your sleeping problems. :frown:

Hard to give good advice on such things over the internet, not really knowing each other and so on but...

I know it sounds easier as it is but you have to stop this. I know it's hard and such thoughts are the reasons that keeps me from sleeping very much and very well the last couple of weeks.

Maybe you should thinking of something comforting when going to sleep, such as a flower field on a warm summer day with butterflys and such stuff or waves on a lagoon or something like that. :redface:

Or you can come to the board or the chat, if I'm not working the chance is good that I'm there and I can talk you dead until you fall asleep infront of your PC. (... which would last like 10 minutes or so, I know my conversation skills :biggrin: )
