Learn about their food preferences first, then ask for help from someone experienced in presentation and all that fancy cuisine stuff. Then carefully pick the dishes, get everything I need and off to cooking I go.

Act like I haven't seen them and walk into somewhere, anywhere I can avoid them quickly. I only keep I touch with people who interest me or are true friends; I don't like dull, awkward catch-up conversations about what people are doing now, how we should meet up for a drink etc.

Mix it up by making chips out of them one day, roast potatoes another, jacket potatoes the next etc etc.
