New gay character on Eastenders??

I have to confess to a weakness for Eastenders. As anyone who watches the series will know, Syed Masood, the wayward eldest son in the Masood family, has recently, and finally, appeared. His reluctance to accept his overbearing mother's introductions to various eligable women looks like being the set up to a storyline involving openly gay character, Christian Clarke. Apart from the prospect making me come over all unnecessary it looks like there will have to be some exploration of the conflicts experienced by gay Muslims. Lets hope the production team puts its very best writers on the project.
