Gay friendly holiday destinations that are NOT about party?

I'd like to go on holidays on my own, at some point this year (within Europe), and would also like to be somewhere where being gay isn't that much a shocker.

I thought of canary islands or baleares.

I know about Gran Canaria and especially Playa del Ingles being big around gay circles, but I want to go somewhere much more silent where I can meditate and get away from the big city stress. However, I sure would like to get to know people as long as I don't have to be scared about being gay.

Any destination ideas?

Yeah, I have been to Scandinavia over 20 times, I lost count how much exactly it was.
I really miss going to the south and the beach.

You could try Turkey. It's Islamic but you'd be surprised at how liberal and gay friendly the cities are.
