This is about mental health.

NativeSon, I don't think what you've said is fair to princealbertofb. I started the bulge thread, so if you have a problem with it you should address me. Which I don't think it's right to do on this particular thread. This is a wholly different topic, and an important one, so it doesn't deserve to be derailed by irrelevant complaints about conduct that has nothing to do with it.

I have, and I go back to it from time to time when I catch myself falling into negative thinking. It seems to help, subtly pulling me back up a little at a time. I also like it because it doesn't require a lot of introspection and crap load of time in writing, etc. In my case, I just add a date to the book and the phrase "I am grateful for...." and then add what I'm grateful for (sometimes with an addition of why). Some of them are as short (and somewhat corny) as.... "6/8/2015 I am grateful for.... flowers."

And yet, even those help. I assume because they help bring to your mind -good- things to battle whatever negativity is swimming around in there at the time.

That's a very nice thought, TwisttheLeaf. So in my gratitude book today, I'm going to say that I'm grateful to you for your heartfelt explanation. Thank you once more.

Which is right where we've landed in the 21st century, in my opinion.

Many points that resonate in what you wrote, meridannight. I just want to point out that this is a radio programme so you don't really have to sit down and watch. You can just listen to it while doing other things like cleaning up, washing up, ironing...

I thought it was quite fitting (or maybe actually ironic) that NativeSon would be the first to comment on this thread about mental health by going on some bizarre rant that was totally unrelated to the OP's post.

The point also is, that none of the threads NativeBitch is referring to were even started by Prince. A little diva best ignored really. I presumed most people did.

Haven't watched the TED talk yet, but I will. The talks nearly always offer at least a dose of good stuff in whatever field. We could do worse...watching the news, for example.

Maybe we could just get back to the original topic of this post.

Here's one article quoting the statistical finds in the UK (in 2014):
