I'd seen this some time before and wondered about its actual effectiveness. Apart from giving that one-time fright... what else has it done? Is there any way of verifying that it does end up deterring people from walking across the road without '' looking right, looking left, looking right again ''(oh, or was that the other way round? I'm French, so ... yes it is right! ... for Britain.)

I imagine that having had a fright like that and then seeing your own frightened face would have a deterrent effect. It would on me.

I think on short burst campaigns it might be effective, but the problem is why in today's society do we need to have things like this?
I also think with all the blood and gore in movies and on the news that people might now be all that shocked.
What about people with heart conditions? Not that people should be jaywalking, but I'd rather let someone jaywalk over having a heartattack...
Do the ends justify the means here?

So you'd rather they were run over?
