InbetweenDreamsAll Dogs Go To Heaven is a Horrifying Kids Movie

I was 3 years old when this movie came out and I remember when my grandpa taped it and was excited to watch it, this was I believe somewhere around 1990-91, so I wasn't really old enough to get all the more adult themed things but the above image is something that can be quite scarring for a 4 or 5 year old kid.

I decided to watch the movie last night because I was bored and learned that Burt Reynolds was the voice of Charlie (main character) and how poor the storyline really is. The animation is fine and why they thought this movie could compete with The Little Mermaid is beyond me. Of course, I am a sucker and just welled up about Anne-Marie being an orphan and mistreated...of course I remind myself this is a terrible movie for kids. Heck this movie might be one of the reasons I'm screwed up in the head lol  Tongue

Did any of you see this Don Bluth film when you were a kid (or adult)?

I never saw it. I saw The Brave Little Toaster as a kid which was . . . unconventional. The cartoons I watched as a kid were what were the most twisted and horrifying.

I loved it. Even though it wasn't aired very often in Latvia, it was one of my favorite cartoons. I watched it as a kid after my friend's dog passed away and imagined he's there in the dog heaven with all the heroes. It's a great movie about friendship, no idea what scared you so muchBig Grin

@Tjemka88 It is all retrospective. I liked the movie a lot when I was a kid too...but yes I think that movie was responsible for some nightmares. I don't think it is appropriate for a 4 or 5 year old.

This article splains it all...

Frankly I don't know why Don Bluth thought he could compete with Disney with movies like this or Rock-A-Doodle lol

When I was a kid, I watched the 1999 movie The Mummy (never bothered watching any of the remakes). Being only 7, I was really afraid, but thankfully I didn't have any nightmares, because at the time I had a cat, and the mummy was terrified as cats because cats are "the guardians of the underworld." So I would always just sleep with my cat on my bed to ward of any mummies Smile
