Unwanted pregnancies simply don't occur with same-sex sex and opposite-sex partners are not always readily available or willing. Girls may flake out on their boyfriends so a male friend may be handy as backup.

Same-sex sex for pleasure should be encouraged, with proper sex ed, health and safety training, between high-school-age people. This way girls don't get pregnant. Parents with daughters have much more to fear than those with sons they think might "turn out gay".

If boys look pretty enough and girls look pretty enough, most humans, I believe, will gladly hop into bed with such pretty partners of the same sex.
