You know you've made it in Hollywood when your character inspires an adult film parody. But for White Lotus star Patrick Schwarzenegger, the line between art and imitation blurred in a hilariously bizarre gym encounter, bringing the world of prestige television face-to-face with its steamy, satirical counterpart, The Tight Lotus.
Schwarzenegger, 31, who played the memorably problematic Saxon Ratliff in Mike White's critically acclaimed third season, is no stranger to the "weird experiences" fans bring his way. His character's controversial dynamic with younger brother Lochlan (Sam Nivola), particularly the much-debated "incest" undertones, proved fertile ground for pop culture discussion – and, apparently, adult entertainment.
The actor recounted his recent, jaw-dropping moment to W Magazine: While working out, a male fan approached him with an unexpected revelation. "He came up to me and he said, ‘I loved your work in White Lotus, and I had to come up to you because my boyfriend just booked playing Saxon Ratliff in The Tight Lotus."
Schwarzenegger's bewildered "What is that?" was met with a blunt, "It’s Tight Lotus – it’s a new porno coming out!" The kicker? "Yeah, he’s playing you. He’s depicting you. I was like, ‘Oh my god!'"
Produced by Men dot com and starring Seth Peterson and Ryan Orion, The Tight Lotus playfully nods to the original's legacy. A promotional image cheekily declared, referencing the beloved Tanya McQuoid, "Tanya McQuoid would be so proud of how these guys are spending their time at The Tight Lotus." The IMDb synopsis succinctly promises: "Two young, fit party guys, abandoned by two party girls, carry on with each other in a room bathed in sensuous red light," clearly leaning into the suggestive brotherly narrative that gripped White Lotus viewers.
While the original series' producer, David Bernad, insisted the controversial scenes were for "narrative storytelling" and not "just for shock," the parody underscores how deeply certain storylines embed themselves in the cultural consciousness – sometimes in the most unexpected ways. Patrick Schwarzenegger's recent anecdote is a testament to the peculiar, often humorous, crossroads where mainstream fame meets its adult film alter ego.
