An Adventurous Prelude
#1
Sunshine and clear skies
warm the end of summer, blessing
a love that grows steadily
more and more misanthropic.

Your problems and my insecurities,
multiplying like tics and fleas,
every smile and touch like a breeze
breeding truth in our unease.

Driving for so long, conversationally
challenged, I grew carsick.
Clicking like a prelude to the clingy need
I sprouted when you wouldn't kiss me.

Being a disappointment is a shame.
I reached a gate we wouldn't climb,
shackled my darkness to it,
and headed south to warmer climes.
