Is there any connection with the Senate Armed Services Committee delaying the hearing on Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell indefinitely. or is it just a coincidence.

As Fred said we need to be organised, they have already won California and Maine. It is a war we are fighting, some battles you lose others you win, but the war will go on until we have justice.
To say they won California is an over-statement. They won on the narrow question of marriage, the states very extensive domestic partnership legislation remains. As far as I am aware, apart from the lack of recognition by the Federal government and by other states there is not a great deal of difference between Domestic Partnerships and Civil Partnerships over here.
As for how we can help the UK can be an example that life goes on with almost gay marriage and our army can continue to fight with openly gay soldiers, despite what the doom sayers say.

Catholic bishops in the state are instructing priests to read or distribute a letter this weekend asking Catholics to pray that lawmakers in New Jersey not allow same-sex marriage in New Jersey.
It remains unclear whether legislators will vote on the issue during the current lame-duck session. Gov. John Corzine favors same-sex marriage, but Gov.-elect Chris Christie opposes it, and supporters realize that unless it passes before Christie assumes office, prospects of passage in the foreseeable future would be bleak.
Political activity, propably yes but inside the law as they are asking Catholics to only pray.
The latest poll gives the vote to the anti-same sex marriage party, but only by a narrow margain. Its now or never, or until Chris Christie ends his term in office.
Lets pray its a yes vote for same sex marriages, when it happens.

DC Council takes first vote on same-sex marriage.

WASHINGTON — In the first of two votes on allowing same-sex marriage in the nation's capital, the District of Columbia City Council has passed the bill 11 to 2.
The D.C. Council voted for the first time Tuesday. The bill had been expected to pass, as 10 of the 13 council members co-sponsored its introduction. A second, final vote is expected later in the month, and D.C.'s mayor has promised to sign the bill.
Marriages would begin in the city as soon as the bill passes a period of Congressional review. Congress likely will not alter the law.
Massachusetts, Iowa, Vermont and Connecticut already allow same-sex marriage. New Hampshire will join them Jan. 1.
The two council members who voted against the bill were Marion Barry and Yvette Alexander.

At thirty-six minutes after two, the ‘aye’s were eleven, the ‘nays’ were two. The marriage equality bill in Washington, DC passed. DC followed Vermont and New Hampshire in voting for marriage equality.
On 1 December, the City Council voted eleven to two. In the fall out of that vote, the Catholic Church inside DC made the threat that they would be pulling out their charities from the City itself, despite never having done that in any other state where marriage equality has passed. In fact, the Catholic charities continue to operate in states such as Vermont and New Hampshire, which begins issuing marriage licenses on 1 January. The City Council has been steadfast in stating that they will move forward with this issue, and that the Church can give up their contracts with the city once they have been fulfilled. Should they quit those contracts early, the Council will have the option to sue them for breach of contract.
It is expected that the House of Representatives will not bring this bill up for a vote in the same way that they failed to bring up the recognition law which went through earlier this year.
Second fence successfully jumped, good news indeed.
The church's scare tactics regarding the contracts did not work, hope Congress don't cave in to the bullies.

I'm so happy to hear about the victory in D.C., Maggie Gallagher of NOM has already vowed to get it overturned like she did in Maine and California. D.C. is a very liberal place so I don't see her gaining much ground, but still she aggravates me, do you think anyone would notice if I locked her in a closet for the remainder of the battle? lol
