David Huebner will be sworn in today (4th Dec. 2009) by Vice President Joe Biden at 4:00pm, 3:45 EST in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building wing of the White House.

He becomes the first politically appointed openly gay Senate-confirmed ambassador in US history.

Another step in the right direction, the next gay appointment should be the US ambassador to the vatican.

I know it will never happen as they blocked Caroline Kennedy's appointment in April this year, but would be fun to see the cardinals rant and rave over it.
