I took a break from my work and drove outside to have lunch. On my way back, I passed this very old temple.

So I stop and enter.
![[Image: a02.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a02.jpg)
And this fan and a line of Buddas greet me.
![[Image: a03.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a03.jpg)
Inside I find this.
![[Image: a04.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a04.jpg)
Bells. Whenever I see bells, I think of the 'mind of the person who rings the bell'.
What goes through the mind of a person, who rings such bells? What is he thinking?
What would I be thinking if I were to ring those bells? How will it sound? What kind of sound will I be making?
WHAT DOES A PERSON WHO RINGS A BELL THINK ABOUT?
![[Image: a05.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a05.jpg)
There's a Budda looking at me.
![[Image: a06.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a06.jpg)
What's that?!

![[Image: a07.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a07.jpg)
Another Budda, hidden in the shadow. Looking at me.
![[Image: a08.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a08.jpg)
This one, also looking at me.
![[Image: a09.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a09.jpg)
And this one.
![[Image: a10.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a10.jpg)
This one under the tree.
![[Image: a11.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a11.jpg)
And behind the stairs.
And I'm thinking,
"How many Buddas are looking at me right now?"
So I started to count them. And I counted 6.
And I turned around and I saw this.
![[Image: a12.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a12.jpg)
And I noticed this.
![[Image: a13.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a13.jpg)
The tiles. Look. Somebody's looking at me.
![[Image: a14.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a14.jpg)
It's pretty amazing, this old temple... I have no idea when it was built, or who built it... I wanted to ask one of the monks, but I didn't, because my interest changed from 'When and Who built it?' to 'Why?'.
Why would anyone build a temple right here?
![[Image: a15.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a15.jpg)
To worship Budda.
![[Image: a16.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a16.jpg)
To give the people something to believe in.
![[Image: a17.jpg]](http://blog.nationmultimedia.com/home/blog_data/7/7/images/buddas/a17.jpg)
To give me a place to sit and be looked upon by nine Buddas.
Yes. There were nine Buddas.
