Video examples of my performance art.
#1
This first one was an introductory segment to an exhibition I held in the Hunter theatre in Dublin. The whole endeavour incorporated short film, photographs, drawings, poetry and performance all designed by myself. A one-man show. It was called "Of Hearts' -&Other Monsters" and was a ritual that I performed to sever my heart from my head in respect to my obsessions with the idea of love and mirroring it onto those I could not have. I have thankfully since not been able to link myself romantically to another, a blessing. Anyway, the description alongside the video tells all. It's a bit old, and raw, and there are mistakes that I will gladly admit to. Still, gotta start somewhere, somehow! The piano pieces featured are by Christian Casher, whom I recently befriended online and is a musical genius. The rest of the video including the other audio is completely my design.

This second one was completed entirely in twenty minutes as a spur of the moment thing and as a piece for this portfolio course that I thankfully later escaped from. God art college pisses me off. Anyway, here it is.

Nice work Smile

The first one took me back to several memories of the 60s and 70s, bits of family holidays where I tried to get away from the family and find a bit of space, half-remembered references to the work of Yoko Ono and images of Sid Barrett, trying to get out of a bag that others try to confine us within ...

I found the second one visually evocative, the sepia bringing to mind old family photographs of my grandparents and the unpredictable behaviour of my grandmother in her later years. It made me angry ... I would have had kittens had I been driving under a bridge with someone looking as if they might throw something on to the road. I was agitated by the music. I wanted it to go somewhere other than backwards. Job done, I'd say Wink

Here is one example of one of my street performances - this is my plastic bag act, one of the more popular ones.

Very interesting work ...
But I have far too little experiences with this kind of art to evaluate it.
