I started investing for retirement in 2009 just when the stock market was recovering. Luckily that I did since I got an excellent return on my investments. I read a bunch of articles and watched the stock market everyday. There ups and downs, but I'm glad to say I am not in the negative territory as far as earnings is concerned.
Last year, I keep hearing and reading about these people in their sixties and fifties who were unable to pay for their mortgages or rents after being unemployed only less than a year. That got me thinking - I don't want to be someone who, after working 30-40 years, only have enough money to live for a year if I lose my job. So I continue to save.
Just curious how many else here have given retirement planning a thought and what you have done to plan for retirement.
Thank you and look forward to reading your posts.
