Well, this isn't literature, but it is a very respectable story. It is actually a manga (I know that might sound dorky) but it is not an explicit as the yaoi sort. It is a very well thought out, funny, and dark story. It was written by CLAMP group. I really recommend reading it. And if you are interested, the story continues into another manga called X/1999.
