There was a young gay guy there. Had a real punk mohawk. Turned out he was in a few gay porn films (pretty hot stuff imho).

I didnt follow the show or the scandal (if there was one - maybe it was kept quiet on his career).

I guess the Brit version has had some scandals too...

I use to watch Survivor all the time. Had a friend who worked on two or three of the shows. Her last position had her as stand in for the events which means they showed her legs or arm or other body part on tv when demonstrating the event. Really cool.

Over here they have an "After-Hours" show on a pay channel. Got the channel for free so watched some of that. No edits just raw feeds of the show = seemed really disgusting people!

Antm you're referring to Kathreya.I love that cookie monster.We don't get BB UK down here but I saw online clips.My word Frank,you justed a question that has been haunting me for years!I've always wondered if those demo people on Survivor were the crew or even Jeff!Big Brother South Africa is coming in August or so and I can't wait!When it's BB season,I migrate and camp in the lounge.

Forget which part of Africa Survivor is currently prepping for. Reports are that it has had some severe set backs. Tons of stolen food, delays in ships arriving with necessities, chosen location in the middle of a major animal area, and a few more issues I forget.

I dont remember all the details my friend wrote about with her year with Survivor but I doubt anyone would guess at the enormity of the whole project. You have the four or five filming areas which are large spaces then you have all the staff and crew which is housed in newly built complexes then you have an enormous staff of locals which are all housed in tent cities.

So each contestant has a demo double. They put on wigs and wear somewhat similar clothes. They are filmed doing the stunts multiple times and shots are inserted for the demo BUT also during the contest for when they might miss a shot of the real contestants. They might even go back and shoot the doubles in close-up for something needed for the story that was missed during the contest.

It really is a huge production with a big footprint.

And they call it "reality" television.What do you think society's obsession with these reality shows says about where we are going?I'm also talking about shows like AI and ANTM,I'm thousands of miles from Los Angeles and exist on an entirely different plain but yet I would stay up late to root for David Cook.

Great question Dan. I always thought it was a cheap name but "reality" television certainly is a cheap and successful recipe for tv studios.

wiki has an interesting history on it all. Most agree that it started with an USA show of Candid Camera whose formula still continues today around the world.

MTV with The Real World in 1992 started the genre here.

I have only really enjoyed Survivor which is faster paced than most. I also like Project Runway since it deals with the fashion industry and usually had more than a few gay designers.

I dont care for simple pop music and dont think I ever watched a full episode of AI. It may be a good thing that the buyer is deciding who succeeds, dont really know.

I spend much more of my time watching political discussion (because some of those channels dont have commercials - and I hate CMs) because politics is such important reality.
