But Never Mine
#1
One day older I have grown.
One more night I spend alone.
I long to plant the seeds of love
And someday reap what I have sewn.

I feel the lonely, bitter bite,
Whenever my friends are in my sight.
For they all have what I do not:
Someone to love and spend the night.

The advice I have been told by all,
“Work hard, be nice, the rest will fall”
But in this game of life and love,
It seems I’m never thrown the ball.

My life, it has been more than fine.
Each accolade a promising sign.
But love gets lost along the way.
A pleasure for most, but never mine.
