There is a totally tacky gay series about vampires...I forgot the name of it. The worst part for me...I was totally hooked on it and watched every friggin episode...really bad TV but on a rainy Saturday afternoon really bad TV is like comfort food for me...
Looked it up....The name was Dantes Cove.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dante's_Cove

There's more than one vampire lesbian theme film, though most are (intentionally or not) satire. I vaguely recall seeing one of motorcycle women (with at least 1 lesbian) fighting zombies. And one vampire movie called The Hunger was kinda ok, IMO, with David Bowie in it and a vampire was lesbian (I'm not sure if it counts as horror though as I recall just finding it more of a depressing drama--but at least I didn't mock it). I've heard of one called "May" where a psychokiller or whatever was also a lesbian.
But if you wanna see some horror with gay-friendly themes then you might like the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (NOT the movie). ETA: I've seen a lot of vampire novels with gay themes, both lesbian and gay male, as well, but I can't think of any (save Anita Blake which included some lesbian-like moments at least, though she normally had sex with a vampire & werewolf, both male).

There's a gay slasher film from 2004 called Hellbent abouta group of gay friends being stalked by a killer. It's watchable, but not top notch.
There's an openly gay character in Bride Of Chucky, lesbian themes throughout Frontiers, Martyrs, Inside, and High Tension, an openly gay character in Dawn Of The Dead 2004, and since I see Black Swan as being a psychological horror film, I guess you could count the lesbian subplot in that. I'm sure ere are many others but hardly any that are mainstream. I wrote two slasher screenplays arlier this year that featured three major gay characters, a lesbian, and the bisexual mother of another teen. EDIT: May was also a very fantastic piece of filmmaking. I'll probably be adding more to this thread lol.

October Moon is a 2005 independent horror film directed by Jason Paul Collum about a male homosexual relationship that turns sour. The film stars Judith O'Dea, Brinke Stevens, Sean Michael Lambrecht, Jeff Dylan Graham, Tina Ona Paukstelis, Darcey Vanderhoef, and Jerod Howard. It spawned the sequel October Moon 2: November Son in 2008. The entire original cast returned, plus new cast members Debbie Rochon, Robyn Griggs and recording artist Sacha Sacket. A third film in the trilogy is planned, but as of 2010 had still not been officially announced.
Horror film fans may recognize the name Judith O'Dea, she played Barbara in the original 1968 George Romero film "Night Of the Living Dead". I have not seen either film, so I can't comment on them.

Historically we have movies that were made by James Whale 1889 – 1957) who was an English film director, and actor. He is best remembered for his work in the horror film genre, having directed such classics as Frankenstein (1931), The Old Dark House (1932), The Invisible Man (1933) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935). Whale was openly gay throughout his career, something that was almost unknown in the 1920s and 1930s. Some of his films, Bride of Frankenstein in particular, have been interpreted as having a gay subtext and it has been claimed that Whale's refusal to remain in the closet led to the end of his career. So there we are a pioneer in gay horror movies. [/COLOR]

Well, Nightmare on Elm St. Part 2: Freddy's Revenge is considered the gay entry in the series, though it wasn't intentional xD

Doghouse was a film sort of like Shaun of the Dead in the satire factor where all of the zombies were men-hating feminists who were heavily implied to be lesbians.
Lesbian Vampire Killers is...a movie about folks killing lesbian vampires. That's pretty much it. The Crow: Salvation was adapted from a novella from Poppy Z Brite entitled 'The Lazarus Heart'. The movie took away from the story, which involved a man being wrongly accused in the murder of his gay lover, eventually being sent to prison, stabbed to death, and returning to seek vengeance with his lover's transgender sister. Sort of got off the track there, but it was a good novella and I thought it needed mentioning xD If the movie had stuck with the original story (which was heartbreaking), it would have been quite awesome. |
