Another big (although oftentimes overlooked) consideration is that, at 16, I believe you're still too young to learn to drive a car ? I think it's still 17 on the mainland isn't it ? It certainly is over here ...

When you're able to drive, a whole BOATLOAD of freedom comes your way, as you can kinda go pretty much wherever you like, so meeting people, even hooking up with your MATES - it all becomes a lot easier ...

^^ Indeed it is currently 17, although there are plans to increase it to 18, but they've quietened down... for now!
