What was it an earlier poster was saying about being condescending?

Megaupload was not a piracy site, they were as active in removing copywrited materials as youtube or google.

I really do hope you're not getting defensive because of the team america comment, it is in no way a reflection on the population of the US. Perhaps you feel like it is, I can assure you it is not and you'll likely have a much healthier discussion if you can check arbitrary patriotism at the door. Smile

No, I was agreeing with you. How dare they enforce international copyright laws. They are evil. I know that Megauplode is innocent, and they will be acquitted. Anytime I Googled a review of a new movie, Megauplode was their on the first page offering its wonderful services, and now they are shut down. It is horrible.

See, I just looked up Megauplode and "The Devil Wears Prada", and I have 37 different options for free down lodes. Poor, poor innocent, Megauplode.

I oppose it, not becaus I think piracy is good or alright, but because I oppose any restriction on the basic rights that we enjoy here in the United States. Free Speech is one of the most important guaranteeors of liberty that we have. In my mind, ANY attack on the freedom of American's to speak as they want or express themselves the way they want must be opposed. It's a dangerous path to start down and I don't want us to start on it.

it's ok that autors want to protect their work but the industry is making a LOT of money if they were fair about prices people wouldn't do piracy.

As for the law if it passes is the begining of more and moe impositions by the us goverment about what you can and can't put online so YES IT IS AN ATACK ON FREEDOM

It makes me sad as an American that there are people so high up in the Government that are just so *bleeeeeeeep* stupid. They criticize China for doing this and now they're doing the same.

Sigh.

The original creative effort is still only getting paid ten cents on a dollar.
