Thanks TigerLover. You might be interested to know that because of those amazing claws, it is capable of coming down from a tree head first as easily as it goes up.

Sad to think that these beautiful, amazing creatures are near extinction. I'm thankful that people like Bill Wood are working to prevent that from happening.

It's also difficult to imagine that the well-fed, lazy, complacent creature who shares (hogs) my bed has the same genetic blueprint as these magnificent cats.

But you might have second thoughts if it were a clouded leopard sharing your bed.

Noticing the spread, most of those are in China, SE Asia and close to the Himalayas.

Are these more victims of Mao? Like rhinos? Hope not.

It has a (just) "vulnerable" status, which is not bad in terms of endangered species.
