US 2020 Election - Biden vs Trump
#11
@Chase Several counties that are very blue haven't reported all precincts, while I don't know if it will close the gap but biden has gained some since this morning. At any rate, it is a very close call in several states...

Well now that more votes from Georgia are coming it seems Georgia is still in play, Bidens has a commanding lead in Michigan, seems most of the red counties in Michigan have most all precincts reporting so I don't think it is possible for Trump to get Michigan.

Maine still has a lot to come in yet but it would seem that Biden will get the popular vote overall and Trump might get one of the congressional districts which gives Biden 3 and Trump 1

Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Alleghany, Chester and Pittsburgh counties still are only reporting ~73-80% of the vote which could really make it a toss up...so still too early to tell until more data comes in. These are all more democratic and more populous so that could tip the scale....

Wisconsin has most all precincts reporting and Biden has a lead of about 11k votes and I don't expect that to change. Nevada is going to be another close one, a few red counties have only 85% of the vote in but Las Vegas county is similar with only ~85% of the vote in. Alaska is way behind in reporting but I think they typically go red.

This is kind of what I'm thinking at the moment...

I still have no hope. Let's say Biden wins. The conservative stacked SCOTUS will just rule anything good he passes as "unconstitutional,"  and the Democrats will be too spineless to stack it themselves. Everything we take for granted now, be it same sex marriage, the minimum wage, overtime pay, or social security, will be ruled unconstitutional, and the Democrats will just shrug their shoulders and say there's nothing they can do, because they don't WANT to do anything. As life grows more terrible in America as it erodes into a Randian dystopia, much of America will blame it on the Democrats and elect the next Trump, furthering the erosion.
We will continue to lose our rights, and we will have no escape. Both parties will continue to shift to the right. The Democrats will soon be what Republicans are now, and the Republicans will be something as frightening as it is unrecognizable.

@Chase It is possible that the democrats will pack the court, but it really depends on the outcome of the election, who has control of the house and senate and so on.. It really depends on on what it is as to whether the supreme court rules something unconstitutional. Yes, I know they're not impartial, nothing ever is. Progress does take time, it is slow, sometimes it retracts before you can move forward again. Remember 65 years ago if you were black you couldn't sit in the front of the bus, before 2015 LGBT couples couldn't get married... I know that there has been some talk about the supreme court ruling against marriage equality but it is to my knowledge unlikely that would happen.

Tyrants like Trump are the reason to vote and to get involved.

I switched on the news yesterday, Wednesday morning, saw the inevitable chaos and decided not to look at the news again until the weekend.  It's bad enough being in lockdown without my being stressed the the machination of the USA elections.

@LONDONER If you're referring to Trump's legal challenge to the election...Honestly, he's got no chance. I've never heard of a sitting president going to court simply to keep votes from being counted...and his people are of course right there with him saying to stop counting to vote and there's no way in hell they're going to stop that. He know's his ass is grass that is the only reason he's doing what he's doing. He has no case, no evidence...Stay tuned because you'll more than likely see Trump being escorted out of the white house nex (in January).

Yes, I was referring to Trump's intentions but I won'r listen to or read any of the news until the weekend or maybe even after that.  I just hope you you're right.  Can't wait for January!

All I can say @LONDONER is if Biden gets the 270+ plus and Trump takes it to the SC and somehow wins...then we're no longer in a democracy.

But yes, I agree, I wouldn't over do it on the news...
