Was too high. I moved the goalpost back. If there's anything lower than psychopath that I can become aware of, I'll move my expectations back farther.

just FYI: a friend of my husband decided to have kids with 55 via surrogate, who had twins which are now about 5. He’s very happy and the kids seem to be doing well.

Serial killer implies actually doing the crime, but yes, I do believe all humans are potential serial killers. Excuse me, I KNOW all humans are potential serial killers. Give anyone a legal opportunity and they'll murder people in a heartbeat.

I think you overestimate the pleasure one derives from killing people. Getting rid of the body looks like such a drag.

@Chase I think you focus on the negative things that people do. There are plenty of good things that people do everyday, even things so little as just being polite to a stranger for no reason at all. Are there sociopaths and narcissists around? Sure there are, you could even argue that it is more prevalent in today's society. We seem to focus on the bad things that people do because it is sensational, we don't as often talk about all the good things people do.

@Bhp91126 I don't know much about adoption other than it sounds like a difficult and expensive process. I don't want to be 75 when my kids turn 18, or rather that I would prefer to be a bit younger. I have a 2 year old niece, my sister is stressed out having to do expensive repairs on their house, my brother in-law has cancer...slow growing my understanding is that it is something that will take 20 years to become a problem and isn't treatable until then. Although it is likely that a vaccine will come out soon, she's not been able to do things like go to the park. So I pitched to my sister about getting a swing set for the backyard. I had no idea how expensive they were... I mean there are "cheap" ones but start reading the reviews and some sound like a death trap. So I want to get her a swing set sometime in the spring... I'm going to try to get my dad to go in on it but come hell or high water I'm going to make it happen.

I visited my sister the weekend after Thanksgiving and we went out for a walk in one of the parks, one that had a play area for kids. There were too many people, most not wearing masks and so on so we weren't able to let her play. It just kind of broke my heart to see her upset, she's 2, she doesn't understand why she can't go swing or play with the other kids. So I want to do something to make things easier for them and a decent swing set will last 8-10 years and won't collapse. It just got me thinking about things. Maybe I'll be in a better place in life sometime in the future but the time is ticking away to have kids and not be in the geriatric stage of my life by the time my kids, if I have kids, grow up. They aren't grown up when they're 18, they need their parents as long as possible. Sometimes it's a life line, sometimes just for advice or just be family. It is something I've missed out on. My dad has alienated all of my relatives and just don't have relationships with any of them, it's difficult to break the ice with people who are really just strangers you see once in a blue moon at a family reunion.

There are positive and negative people throughout life, some because of war, some because of how they were brought up, some just cause the way they are. Learn from them all, learn what life is about, differs with each human. Yes I agree, 18 years old is just a number, adult? Some are, most not. I didn't start to get it together till about 26. I see many young people now days that are trying to help the world rather than just themselves, not a bad thing. Remember this, take care of yourself as you can't help anyone else if you go down, just my thoughts, James
