Okay I think we're missing the point a little bit...
What I meant to ask was: when people of non-asian descent (but especially caucasians) speak an east asian language, especially the chinese languages, while inside that country, the people in that country tend to get very excited. In fact, my mother watches a television programme completely dedicated to this. It's a television contest where foreigners speak mandarin on television.
