I don't know, frankly I see nothing wrong with the traditional names. I think that the practice of name giving passing down a name from say grandfather or great grandfather to son is a practical and 'respectful' thing. Assuming Great/Grandfather is a person worth talking about.
The problem with naming your kid something outside of your culture or off the wall like Chewbacca, is that you are setting that kid up for a world of hurt especially in their formative years.

While both of these women have become very successful, one has to wonder at how much pain they have suffered in silence due to the horrible things children (and adults) would do with such names.
