Saw a report on the BBC last night on the destruction of Palmyra. The New Town is now almost non-existent. The main street that I remember being lined with shops, restaurants and hotels, is just a mass of ruins. War is ruinous isn't it?

Yes, I've seen it. I don't even have words for it. There are wars and wars. This destruction frenzy in Syria, however, is reaching 1945 levels indeed.

I'm guessing Aurelian would have liked their services had they been around in 272 A.D.
