This is interesting. It reminds me of a similar thing at school, it wasn't manly to wear your backpack with two straps, you wore it with one even though it was more uncomfortable and sometimes impractical to do so. Even if it caused your one shoulder pain because of the weight of your bag. Something changed midway through school and suddenly everyone was wearing their backpack with two straps, it was such a relief. It was so silly, just like the adversion to the wheeled suitcase was. Men never like making it easy for themselves.
