The first place I lived

Most of Australia is very gay friendly, but there are some backward pockets. The New South Wales Central Coast, which includes Kurri Kurri and Gosford I would slot into that category of backwards. There are some beautiful tourist spots...The Entrance, Terrigal and Avoca, but the residents (Free loaders) a very backwards.

Australia is a great country for gays and racial minorities for the most part.
But as with any country, if you venture out of the urban areas... You must enter at your own risk! Same goes for Japan, and I'm sure it's the same for the US too.
