thought i got a virus. (not)

I typed a web address incorrect and it took me to someplace unexpected bad. I did a forced quit on the web browser. Every time i re opened the browser it went to the same page but the browser was locked. I found out where its cache was on the hard drive and deleted the file but still no fix.

so i did a google and found out holding down the shift key while starting up the browser was all that was necessary.

isnt it funny how we jump to conclusions and assume the worst case

I've never heard about this trick. And does google explain why that happened?
