She performed this at Covent Garden in 1953 and at the second performance broke her leg on stage. Despite this she finished the performance (the opera is essentially a two hander so she was on nearly all the time), she was ill with cancer at the time.
It was her last public performance, she died later that year. One of the greatest voices of the 20th century. You may have guessed, I'm a bit of a fan.
