I never went to my Prom [for personal reasons] but I went alone to the party after our Graduation Ceremony. I have no qualms about being seen at a party alone or even going alone.
I've always believed that you have to be comfortable with being alone and functioning alone, before you can do all the other stuff, cause at the end of the day, it's you that matters and when/if everything else goes, you'll be the one to stand with yourself.
If you can't find somebody, you can go alone. There's really no shame in it. Luckily, I had friends who I hung out with at the party for abit, so it wasn't like I was sitting in a corner sulking.
Actually, quite a few of my gal pals who weren't the "popular girls" went alone, and we left the party afterwards and had our own little "slumber" party, so it's not black and white.
~
I say walk in there with your head held high, and enjoy your night. Wether you have a date or not. Don't let societal standards ruin your evening.
