In the UK charts 33 years ago this month, a big hand for....Day Trip to Bangor by Fiddler's Dram.

Claimed to be based on an actual day trip to Rhyll in north Wales, they used Bangor in the song because the extra syllable helped with scansion and it has better rhymes. That doesn't make it a good song.

Stranger On The Shore, Mr. Acker Bilk. Used as a theme tune for the eponymous television series in 1961. I can just remember seeing this on our first television which came in a cabinet taller than me and had a ten inch screen. Don't ask me what it was about, I was four at the time.
