Reparative Therapy/ Brainwashing
#1
The debate has finally reached Australia. I have been aware of this issue since 2005 when I media storm ran over this issue when a gay teen on Myspace was forced into Reparative therapy by his avangelic father.

The program was 'Love In Action' ran by Exodus and the faithful 'Ex-Gays'.

When the Zack Stark story surfaced in 2005, not only was I truely gutted that this was being fornce onto someone so young, but upon research discovered how deeply Exodus and the many like them have penetrated every country you can poke a stick at. I am disgusted that we even breathe the same air as the decrepid creatures, let alone have our respective governments FUND these C***s.

Anyway, here is a back ground of the Zach Stark story to refresh some peoples memories, followed by a story that has just appeared in Australian newspapers today, 7 years after the rest of the world knew of this issue.

If you aren't sure, run a search on 'Exodus' and I'll guarntee that their slimey tentacles are somewhere in your country.

Sadly a lot of gays do not want to be gay and gladly fall into this trap.

I have had run ins with LGBT who have gone through this sort of "therapy" (Pray away the Gay) type programs and some swear by these programs, finding a new lease on life as well as a 'family oriented, God Loving walk with Jesus'.

The worst ones coming out of these programs the ones who are really messed up emotionally and mentally are those who being teens were forced into these programs by 'caring' parents who couldn't tolerate their kid being - you 'that way'.

The parents actually believe they are doing a service for their kid - after all who wants their child to burn in hell for all eternity? Rolleyes Those gays who elect to go into these things are full of self loathing of their LGBT aspect because society has preached that they are sinners, bound for hell with no redemption for their wicked 'choice' in life.

For years I argued with men and women in the clergy (many denominations involved in this) that this sort of thing was not curing anything and only making matters worse - especially when you see a gay man marrying a lesbian that they met in one of these cultist groups both claiming to be happy to have found 'true' love - blah, blah, blah.

I thought that this was predominately a USA issue as we are the most 'religious' of the Western Nations - the rest of you seemingly becoming atheists and agnostics (that's that socialism in you, you see - ask any Republican).

I was aware that there were 'international outreach' programs to help cure the socialist nations of their gay problem, I wasn't aware that it had gotten this prolific.

Of course these programs work best in the shadows. When confronted with the light of reason or media attention they used to scurry off like roaches when you turn on a light.

Sometimes it's more than pray away the gay though isn't it?
Like convincing them their dad(if gay) or mum(If lesbian) has faild them as role models and for them to release their anger and negative feelings towards them.
You know.
Therapy based on the old stereotype of homosexuals having a distant father/mother.:frown:

Who knows, maybe where i heard of this, it was a rare isolated case...

Very appropriate use of '.

It's really sad that the parents can't see the cruelness of their actions.
But judging by how religious folk view homosexuality, they probably see it no different than sending their kid to alcohol or drug rehab. Which is doubly sad in a way...

It really irks me how blind some religious people can be to the damage and harm spreading their "truth" can be.

I doubt you made much ground.:frown:
And yeah, most of those couples are either: bisexual, lying, or for an extremely rare minority, actually changed.

What does being against monarchic rule have to do with this?Wink
Most US conservatives have no idea what socialism is.

Well it's still a non-issue in the UK at least.(well...i haven't heard anything.)
But Australia seems more politically conservative than the UK from what i've seen.

Well that's what happens when they use stereotypes and dated research to base their therapy on.

It saddens me that people still think Ex-gay ministries are ever the right thing to send Children to though, let alone people in general:frown::

I said: "...from what i've seen."
I only stated an opinion from what i've seen and experienced relative to the UK.

I asserted nothing as fact.

I didn't even bother clicking on the links.

The way I see it is there some desperately unhappy gays out there looking for something to cling to, a niche, if you like, I personally can't get my head round it but I don't condemn them.
We live in a pretty fucked up world and people will always take advantage of other people, it's just a way of life now and has almost become acceptable. :frown:

I like to think I am a stable kinda gay and rise above it all and try not let it bother me.
