Hello!

Obviously I'm new here, so I figure I should play nice and tell you a bit about myself and why I'm here.

I'm a 28 year old male from Alabama (US). I am a fairly complex guy. I don't typically fit completely into one category or another. Most people say that I'm not black and white but rather various shades of grey. Personally, I like to think of myself as a little more colorful than that.

So far 2012 has seen some rather amazing (and at times stressful) things going on in my life. I've gone through a divorce, come out of the closet, had my first boyfriend, broke up with my first boyfriend, dealt with a parent's mental health issues (that I apparently partially caused by coming out of the closet), and my best friend ever is moving to Boston in a week. I'm not complaining about any of this, mind you, I'm just trying to give you a bit of an idea of where I currently am in the game of life.

My name was chosen for a reason. I feel like I'm a paradox at every turn. I'm not even going to try to explain all of that here, though, because I'm sure as we all interact together you'll quickly see what I mean.

I guess I'm here just to find out if I fit better into the gay community than I do into the bisexual community. As I said earlier, I rarely fit into any one category, and my sexuality is no exception. Again as alluded to earlier, I was married for a time (6.5 years, actually). I loved her and was attracted to her, and our divorce had nothing to do with my sexuality. However, I've never been attracted to another woman before, during, or after her. Some argue that makes me bisexual, some argue that makes me gay and I just had a slight exception. I tell them all that I really don't care what they call me, and that's the truth. I would, however, like to find a place to feel like I fit in a little better than I do on the bisexual forum I've been a member of for the past year or so.

I have a habit of rambling long enough that nobody would ever read my posts in their entirety, and I feel I'm starting to make it to that point so I think it's time to wrap this up.

I look forward to getting to know you all and hopefully making some good friends along the way!

Very true. I don't guess I've joined any forums related to my hobbies, but most of my hobbies involve meeting and interacting with other people, so I do have a decent number of friends and acquaintances I can talk to about that sort of stuff. I just like to also have a place I can talk about sex and relationship related topics without people freaking out.

You know, I hadn't even thought of that. I guess all I'm missing is the part where my dog dies. Oh wait, I lost the dog in the divorce! Does that count? Laugh

Let your parents do their own thing, in their own world. There is no shame in being gay or bi, even straight. I would be careful with your emotions of your best friend leaving you and forget your parents. Your a boy so you need to build a emotional support structure around you, look for gay friendly ladies and men in your area to be a member here. A gay man and a straight lady can be a great resource to each other.

location, location, location. Where you live has a lot to figure in how you think of your self. The SE is not the most socially advanced quadrant of the country. For example they were the last to accept inter racial marriage. And this has to add to your stress.

I was married 15years and you never stop loving your X. I am much more successful in a gay relationship and so I can put a label on me I am a gay man. The porn, sex dont really define anyone.

Hi! Welcome! I think that you should just check out everything and hang out where you feel comfortable...or where you click. I am gay and I never felt comfortable or like I belonged in any gay forum until I came here...before that (and still) I felt comfortable in forums where there are mostly straight people.
