We don't drink so we wouldn't know but I can tell you this funny story, shall I?

OK in this thread postings are generally short but this story is quite funny. We were at a party in a restaurant, everyone was enjoying themselves, my group were demonstrating some dances. It got very warm with the wood fire in the fireplace and the people and candles etc... We were drinking a lot of water (some were drinking wine and spirits, etc... but I stick to my favourite drink, ie water). At some point the host, the restaurateur, brought out some of his famous eau-de-vie (or schnapps for those who are more familiar with that term). Generally, eau-de-vie is very very strong and can smell of the fruit it was made with. As per habit my mate M got me to smell her glass of schnapps, and I said, yes, that smells quite good. And then I picked up MY glass and proceeded to take a great swig of water because I was parched.... Oh, dear!!!!! The glass was not full of water but of schnapps; the restaurateur had been pouring this eau-de-vie in everyone's glass while we were on the dance floor demonstrating and did not remember that my glass had been empty.
I spat it out so quickly (it almost choked me, it was so strong, lol). I think I would normally have smelt the alcohol in my glass if it hadn't been that I'd just been smelling M's glass. How stupid can you get????? Hahaha. That'll teach me to take a whiff out of other people's glasses. Is that what you'd call being NOSEY? Wink Laugh1 I think Marsh would have been in shock.
