Hi guys,
Being a gay American is becoming somewhat freighting in the current political climate. As some of you already know, my husband is a high ranking official in the Department of Defense and there is a program available through his job that would allow us to expatriate.
I spent a portion of my youth in the UK and remember it fondly, and my husband has worked in the UK numerous times and really liked it.
If Romney does win his bid for President, it seems more and more likey that the US will continue it's current trend towards theocracy and that is something that neither of us wish to endure or put our future child through.
Romney released an I interview yesterday in which he made statements referring to the separation of church and state, saying that he believed they should be "less separate". Well, to me "less separate" is sort of like saying "a little pregnant", but the issue if marriage equality has really pollerized the country these past few months and I genuinely fear that, should Romney become elected, much of the gains the LGBT community has made will be over turned.
So, what do you guys think? Should we, as my husband suggests, consider expatriating?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks,
Beau
