Handling Stress

I'm also a Hospice volunteer and serve on several committees in my county to help with aging and disability needs in our communities.

Basically GIVE GIVE GIVE...

In my world the BIGGEST motto to live by is "You get to keep what you get by giving it away!"

Stress is a hard one, I have to remind myself that no one can make me angry, that becoming angry is just my perception of the situation, I stop and ask myself is this worth the aggravation? I have been around much longer than most of you, if someone is trying to aggitate you sometimes it helps to consider the source, most often not worth the time. The little day to day stuff try to let go before you sleep, talking to someone or writing it down and burning it. Watch it go up in flames. My ace in the hole is to compare it with my nam experience, most pale in comparision, Jim

I'm still working on proper ways to manage stress, I think I'll eventually find an anger management class but for now, exercise doesn't help much and I don't have the proper equipment for yard work so when it gets bad its rum and one of my most violent video games.

Effective stress management might include some "extreme" play like the gaming BUT not as the focal point of a healthy lifestyle. The focal point must include something that helps you impact the source of the stress...ultimately. So I suggest something that gets you out of YOU and into others. Help some kids or some older people have a better time or day just because.... Do something random for good that no one else knows about. Clean a neighbors car for free. Be random but with intent and the cumulative effect will prove remarkable.

With me no matter what kind of stress ,I can overcome it, by practicing my Siu Nim Tao.
The other thing that works for me is meditation.

Getting out in nature is the most calming feeling in the world,

Stress? Well when it comes to severe stress I take it to the notebook. I grab a pencil and start scribbling. Then i sharpen the pencil and scribble harder. I just keep going and going. Scribbling as hard as I can trying to make a perfect black. Keep sharpening. Break the pencil if you really have too. Just keep going until your good.

I don't do stress.
I just can't deal with it.

So i avoid it at all costs.

I like to listen to classical, jazz, or easy listening while sipping on a glass of wine and eating cheese. It's a great way to kick back and get away from everything. Sometimes sipping on an iced drink while reading a book is good for me too.

occasionally I have a cigarette.

But more often I smoke pot.

Or I punch stuff like boxing bags. And kicking them is good too.
Martial arts is good for stress. Pot can be good for martial arts too.
