My design,
My build
100% unique
Tent can fold in half, back half folds over the front half, giving a verticle height of 200mm, and is normally transported folded up, but I keep it as per the pic. even while towing, so that I have an instant sleep place.
Also, these "rooftop" tents are supposed, and normally are mounted on the roof of the vehicle (hence "rooftop" tent)
2 problems with this, 1 it's a bitch to unfold at that height when you are alone, 2, You have to climb up and down a bloody ladder, to have a pee.
This way, no ladder, plenty packing underneath, but all cooking facilities are based in the back of the Landrover.
This gives me the option to deploy as a static base (with a side tent) or as a touring rig, with minimal setting up, and I don't sleep on the ground.
Trust me, never seen this done before.
I intend to post this on Yanky-land's forum teardrops and tiny trailers, where I also chat.
BTW Cooked this up in my shower, 1 week later spent 2 days building, the next week end 1 day matching up the side tent, A couple of hours sorting out a couple of minor brackets and other bits and bobs...
Quite proud of myself.
The grey paint is actually rubberising coat which has to dry for about 4 weeks. I'm going to paint it Landdrover green and yellow trim to match the Landy.
Oh N T A B C But I'm chuffed
