Gay Pride Parade costumes?
#11
The original gay pride parades developed after stonewall to basically tell people that we wherry going to hide any more. That the public was going to have to get use to the fact that there where gay people around. I'm sure even back then there was alot of flamboyant dews and behavior. Just the fact that gay people were marching in a parade was outrageous.

I do think that some of the message of strength in numbers has ben somewhat diluted over time but those kind of things come and go.

People wear what they want to wear, not everyone fits into common stereotypes.

Parades are an opportunity to celebrate who you are, to have a bit of fun and forget your inhibitions for a while.

I would question if he is talking about actual costumes or just clothing/gear that he is just not accustomed to seeing.
There isn't alot of opportunity for people who are interested in leather or bondage or drag to go out in public in the middle of the day without being accosted.
It may not be for you but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to do it.

Besides many normal people are involved in the parades they just aren't ones to draw attention to themselves.
