On an immature note.. Vaginas scare me (especially after seeing the movie teeth).. So i feel your pain.

Believe it or not , eventually you get used to it all.
I was an R.N. for close to twenty years the last 10 spent in psychiatric nursing.

I can tell you one thing for sure , human body smells are the hardest thing to get over, try and get your hands on some Vicks rub and place a tiny bit under each nostril. Wink

You will get there ,give yourself time and you will see it all as just a medical procedure and you will eventually lose your gag reflex as well.

Vaseline does the same trick as Vicks doesn't it Mum?

Not sure son , I know Vaseline will stop a bleeding nose , but I always used Vicks or tea tree oil mix .

Hmm, I see what you mean, but I'm not quite getting the full picture yet. Could you offer a more detailed description, or perhaps a few pictures?

I'm so glad I signed up here, this is exactly what I was looking for.

Rumble.

Please take a moment to consider those users who may have elderly or disabled loved ones in hospitals, care homes or indeed living in their own homes and who require the attention of district nurses in the area of urinary or incontinance care.

It's not very professional to make those sort of views public.

Ten years before she died, my mother required emergency neurosurgery to fit a shunt which alleviated fluid that had built up to danagerous levels on the surface of her brain. Although the operation saved her life it left her with something like 20% of the use of her right arms and leg. She was therefore unable to get up from her chair without help so couldn't get to the bathroom quickly enough when she needed to. She therefore elected to have a urinary cathetre fitted.

She and we her family would have been horrified to hear a health care professional talking about his/her patient or client in the way you have.

I accept you probably didn't intend to cause offence so I'm sure we wont judge you too harshly on this occasion. However, please remember that your patients or clients rely on you and the proceadure you describe for their dignity.

You should be proud of what you do for the people you work for and I know they and their families appeciate it.

I just wanted to cry reading this. It's so true. It's a true reminder that we should think before we post something like this. It's so true that we don't know whose reading what we've wrote and we should take to think before we post. Icluding myself.

I know you guys are looking at this post in the ''hospital worker'' way; don't. I don't want to talk BIG but i don't think something gross could stop me from helping those patients. I never said anything about the lady, i talked about.. it. Ofcourse im proud of what i do and the lady was just an example. I'm sure I wouldn't like that part in anyone else either. And you may offend to this part, but like i said; its just my opinion. Maybe its a waste of time, maybe not to some but i think and my ideas worth to me. If you don't like them just walk away (like we wish for everyone to do the same).
