Pop or Soda?
#11
Pop, that is what it is called in the UK. Or Fizzy drink. If you said soda (as 'lime and soda') you'd get soda water (like carbonated water). What do you call that where you live?

Where I live (South Carolina) I hear carbonated water being called either 'club soda' or 'sparkling water'.

Soda. Pop just makes a person sound silly.

I think Pop's a rather dated word for carbonated drinks, fizzy drinks, or sodas. So maybe the word has remained in use in some parts of the US while others have moved on to a new appelation. That's my opinion, but you'd just have to listen to modern day ads, series and films to see what people call it most often. And make sure you're not watching a film of the 40s, of course.

I've always called it a soft drink, the other name would be fizzy drink, but mostly I hear people say soft drink.

Now I've gone and said soft drink too much and now it sound weird.
