This looks like the beginning of a new mathematic form for counting, right?
Well it's only December 12th 2012 today and some people are cashing in on the fact that it's an alignment of the number twelve three times. (This doesn't work all around the world anyway, so it's particularly random, ha :biggrin.

So after all this worry about 12.21.12 or 21.12.12 what your thoughts on this particular occurence of the tripple twelve? Lucky, unlucky, nothing of the sort, random?

yep and, it's no different than 1.1.1, 2.2.2., 3.3.3., 4.4.4, 5.5.5, 6.6.6, 7.7.7, 8.8.8, 9.9.9, 10.10.10 or, 11.11.11. All of them precede 12.12.12 every century. Now if I see a 13.13.13 on the calendar I might be a bit worried LOL.

I remember my choir teacher in high school pointing out that on November 19, 1999, the hallways at school were particularly quiet. I had noticed it, but didn't think about it until he also mentioned that it was the last date with all odd numbers in it until January 1, 3111.

I think the next major or minor date oddity along these lines is 2-2-22 (2 February 2022)

Of course its not really 12-12-12 - its 12-12-2012, just like 06-06-06 wasn't real 06, but 06-06-2006...

Its just random numbers. The Hebrew Calendar has us in the year is 5773.. soon its going to be 5775 - which has to be a scary number, or 5777 (triple sevens, that can't be good).

Why is 21 December 2012 different? Its not a number thing. Its just an odd coincidence that for us its 12-21-12 the real point is the winter solstice which our society totally ignores are a beginning or an end to a year, but older cultures viewed the winter solstice shortest day of the year, longest night of the year) as the 'start' of the new year.
