Religion and Homosexuality

I think the best thing you can do is just be there as a friend. Let him know that coming out to himself, you, or his mother doesn't change who he is. If you want to challenge his religion, now is not the time. He needs love and support, not a rant or lecture. I expect he is feeling vulnerable and pretty raw after his mother's reaction. Tell him many, many guys have had the same experience and come through it; his mother's reaction will likely change over time; there are places where he can seek support. You could encourage him to check out this forum!
