Hey solemn boy! :-)

Ponyo was a lot better than I expected, not so keen on the dub, it's just not the same. All Studio Ghibli movies are amazing!

I used to be otaku when I was in high school, although it was just to the extend of excessive watching,no impulse buying on products though. Anyway,in general,I used to love shounen (teen boys) anime, which is very common. But as time passed,I have met with seinen (young adult men) and jousei (young adult women) genre and both of the genre touched human issues in a deeper sense. I'm more inclined to seinen though as jousei tends to be a deep love story, which I find kinda boring sometimes, but seinen, they are more straight forward and include other genre as a light medium.

So some examples of seinen anime: Aria series (there were like 2-3 seasons and 1-2 OVAs),this one use light humour as medium, and touches a lot about real life values. Also Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, which used magic power as medium, sounds like a bit shounen, but it was kinda deep to understand actually,I read that jaxc watched it? would like your opinion some times Smile

Also, studio ghibli produced the best quality of anime movies in my opinion,I've watched most of their works and they are the works of art.

Currently,I've only been following One Piece and Hunter X Hunter anime, well because both of them illustrate a whole new unique world, which I'm very fond of~ And my time have been largely allocated to english comedy series,so,not much of spare time left for anime~

If I'm not mistaken,Natsume Yuujinchou is a jousei anime, but it's not like Honey and Clover (which used love story as medium). I love both anime though~ Only managed to catch up 2 seasons of Natsume Yuujinchou, gonna catch up to the latest in the nearest time~ ;D

For me, one could say that watching anime takes up most of my free time (also reading the original manga or more). Mostly I watch shounen anime, but recently a girl friend of mine introduced me to yaoi -boys love- anime like Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and Junjo Romantica...

Pretty much obsessed with anime, and manga. Like... my bookcase is taken up with about 33% manga Tongue

Been kinda out of the loop on the "new" anime recently because I was without internet access for soooo long, but I'm going to start looking for a few new series to watch pretty soon. One of my friend's burned me a DVD of Soul Eater the other day, so I'm hoping it's as good as he says it is... cause there's a lot of it xD

Last series I watched in its entirety was Chrono Crusade Smile

I've gotten so used to the style of older anime that I just can't watch new shows anymore. That kind of sucks.

Anyways, it's interesting to see so many gay people like yaoi. I mean, the way most yaoi portray homosexuality is... well almost sort of offensive in a way. There's always this dominant, muscular guy paired up with a shy, blushing "cutey", lots of forced sexual activities; it starts out as rape but then the cute guy realizes he actually likes it so he accepts it. I find all of that to be very stupid. If anyone knows any yaoi that avoids all the bad characterization and rape, please let me know because obviously the concept of the genre is... appealing :p
