Gay Snob
#11
maybe you should try pubs or hotels rather than bars.

if you want to dance - go to a club
if you want to drink/ get wasted - go to a bar
if you want to chat and socialise - go to a pub
if you want to eat - go to a hotel

its only snobbish if you think your too good for those places. althoughi'd consider you hypocritial if you want the experience without the other people

There's a better word than SNOB, Zabi (Welcome to GaySpeak by the way) and I think it's DISCRIMINATE.... I think there's nothing wrong with being discriminate, because that's probably how people end up bettering their lives or those of others. Discriminate means knowing what's better and what's worse, being able to make those distinctions, also knowing what's right and what's wrong, what's pleasing and what's unpleasant, what's pleasurable and what's boring... etc. Not a bad quality at all if used without judgement of others.

I think SNOBs only discriminate to set themselves higher than they are really entitled to, people who, for shallow reasons, strive to be seen as better than they are. That's why the word has this negative connotation.
Apparently the word would come from the Latin Sin NOBilitas, which means without any nobility, considering that those who have innate nobility would not have to make themselves look better than they are by artifice.

You may be overweight, Joseph, but you are NOT UGLY..... You are one lovely person, inside and out. So, remember what Frank would say.... You are not ALLOWED to call yourself those negative things (not here!)... We love you for who you are, sweetie. Bighug

Snobs are just knobs with an S instead of a K
Because they think what shines out of their arse is a sunshine ray.

I would consider it snob to spend all your time in a *ahem* "sticky" bar talking about how much better you are than the common patronage, but never leave.

Some parts of my town are the same way. they are messy and junky and take no effort to make it a clean neighborhood and not to mention the crime. I believe that does not make me a snob. Now i am one who thinks all bars are creepy nasty places. but i've seen some hotel bars that are clean smoke free and well kept. now if a regular town bar does not come up to those standards i instantly declare it unfit for habitiation lol. idc if its gay or straight. a business is a business and all of it should meet certain guidelines.
