"What do you think are the (pop) cultural classics of all classics for GAY people?"

We'll then make a poll of who knows these classics.

We'll then make a poll of who knows these classics.

I'll start with:
1 * Marilyn Monroe movies: "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"
2 * Oscar Wilde books and plays: "The Importance of Being Ernest"
3 * E.M. Forster's books and short stories: "Maurice"
4 * Gay themed movies: "Maurice" again by James Ivory with Hugh Grant and James Wilby and Rupert Graves.
5 * Fashion designers that appeal to gays: Dolce & Gabbana I suppose or Calvin Klein (for the underwear and beautiful models)
6 * Photographers of the male form. Baron Von Gloeden
What else can you suggest?

i feel like i've always been a bit on the outside of the gay preferences so it's no surprise i will give these answers:

1. i'm sad and ashamed to say i haven't seen any marilyn monroe movies... i love good movies and i always say i will see a lot of oldies but goldies - classics, but never had either the patience or will to get started. so i need help!

2. i love oscar wilde - what i've read so far, and the importance of being earnest is deliciously subtle and humorous so it definitely gets my vote. i'll add my own book: boris vian | l'ecume des jours.

3. i haven't read any of his books but maurice sounds very very familiar.

4. i like some gay themed movies, others not so much. favourites? latter days, bent, proteus.

5. i'm not too much into fashion or labels so i can say i wear what i like or what i feel suits my personality best, independent of label. i've even tried dressing in what people might define as trendy but did not feel comfortable - just not me, even if i looked nice in them. so i'll stick to casual clothes Confusedmile:

6. photographers of the male form yes. yes. yes. i love photography and i love the male body in all shapes and sizes, as long as it is shot in an artistic and erotic, not pornographic way. concealing or obscuring things can be 10 times as sexy as putting everything out there.
