he is, in fact, the very essence of a good dog.

(Although - plasticine. Would not be good in any sort of dog / burgler sort of scenario. Unless the burgler in question had some sort of allergy to plasticine. And even then he'd be too small to get his plasticine-ness into the burgler's mouth.)
